The sessions highlighted a wide range of topics — from advances in imaging AI and clinical decision support, to the growing role of generative AI in medical workflows. One of the most engaging discussions centered on federated AI monitoring, a promising approach that enables collaboration and model improvement across institutions while preserving data privacy. It was exciting to see how these cutting-edge ideas are moving closer to real-world clinical adoption.

Beyond the talks, what stood out most was the sense of collaboration. Conversations with researchers, practitioners, and fellow technologists reinforced that while the challenges are complex — data interoperability, trust, and responsible AI — the collective drive to innovate for patient benefit is stronger than ever.

I came away from the conference inspired and energized, with new insights to bring back into my work in AI. Events like this underscore how important it is to bridge disciplines, connect people, and keep patients at the center as we shape the future of healthcare technology. San Diego was the ideal starting point — lively, welcoming, and full of things to do. While in San Diego, I also spent time at the San Diego Botanic Garden, a peaceful oasis filled with winding trails, lush gardens, and plant collections from all around the world. It was a great balance to the busy city streets and a reminder of how diverse the region’s beauty can be.

Just up the coast, Del Mar and Carlsbad brought a slower pace. Both towns are perfect for strolling, enjoying the beaches, and soaking in that laid-back California vibe. Carlsbad especially felt like the kind of place where you could lose track of time just watching the waves roll in.

Further north, I made it to Laguna Beach, Dana Point, and Newport Beach, three iconic stops along the Orange County coastline. Laguna’s cliffs and coves were picture-perfect, Dana Point offered a relaxed harbor town feel with beautiful coastal views, and Newport’s boardwalk and harbor made for a lively contrast. Together, these spots felt like the heart of the classic California beach experience.

One of the highlights of the trip was hiking at Torrey Pines. The trails wind along the cliffs with sweeping ocean views, and it was a reminder of how breathtaking the natural landscape is here. It’s the kind of place where you pause often — not because the trails are tough, but because the views make you stop in your tracks.

Southern California has so many layers — from city life to small-town charm, gardens and greenery, and unforgettable natural beauty. This trip was a reminder of why the region is such a draw for travelers from around the world. Below are some photos taken from the trip.

Northwestern got off to a hot start and lead at half time. However, Wisconsin turned up the the heat in the second half thanks to Carter Gilmore and was able to win the game with a score of 75-69.

Northwestern got off to a slow start down 17 to 4 early in the game. However, northwestern was able to claw back and had a dominate second half winning by a score of 85 to 60. Northwestern’s Ty Berry made five three pointers and finished with 23 points. Northwestern’s Brooks Barnhizer recorded his seventh double-double of the season.

Northestern played Miami University (Ohio). The first half started off slow with both teams only scoring a field goal headed into halftime. Northwestern was able to score a touchdown and a field goal in the second half and held on to win with a final score of 13 to 7.
