Penn State vs Northwestern Football at Ryan Field 2023

On Saturday September 30, 2023, I attended a college football game in Evanston, Illinois at Ryan Field on a bright sunny and seasonably warm day. The Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions took on the Northwestern Wildcats. Northwestern got off to a quick start scoring a field goal on the opening drive. Penn state responded with its own field goal. Northwestern then went up 10 to 3 in the second quarter but Penn State evened up the score going into halftime. Northwestern looked good in the first half but unfortunately things did not go there way in the third quarter as Northwestern failed to convert on a crucial 4th and 1 and Northwestern attempted a fake punt that failed to convert. In the fourth quarter, Northwestern quarter back Ben Bryant was knocked out of the game and Northwestern quarterback Brendan Sullivan came on in relief. Penn State won the game with a score of 41 to 13. Northwestern quarterback Ben Bryant finished 14 of 25 with 125 yards. Northwestern wide receiver A.J. Henning had a good day on kick returns going for 78 yards on 3 attempts. For Penn State quarterback Drew Allar finished with 189 yards in the air and one passing touchdown.

Illinois vs Northwestern Football at Ryan Field 2022

On Saturday November 26, 2022, I attended a college football game in Evanston, Illinois at Ryan Field. The University of Illinois Fighting Illini came to town to take on the Northwestern Wildcats on mild fall day. The University of Illinois Fighting Illini team beat the Northwestern Wildcats by a score of 41 to 3. Northwestern avoided the shutout with a field goal by Adam Stage in the fourth quarter wtih the drive led by Northwestern quarterback Jack Lausch who came on after Cole Freeman threw four interceptions. Northwestern running back Evan Hull ran for 53 yards on the ground with 20 carries. Illinois running back tandem Reggie Love III and Chase Brown both scored a touchdown and combined for over 140 yards. The Northwestern 2022 college football team finished the season with a record of 1-11 with the only win coming against Nebraska in Ireland.

Miami (Ohio) vs Northwestern Football at Ryan Field 2022

On Saturday September 24, 2022, I attended a college football game in Evanston, Illinois at Ryan Field. The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks came to town to take on the Northwestern Wildcats. The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks football team beat Northwestern by a score of 17 to 14. Northwestern quaterback Ryan Hilinski finished with 24 of 42 passes complete with 232 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Northwestern running back Evan Hull gained 62 yards on the ground and receiver Malik Washington caught 8 passes for 81 yards. Miami (Ohio) quarterback Aveon Smith threw for one touchdown and 62 yards while running back Keyon Mozee gained 171 yards on the ground.

Southern Illinois vs Northwestern Football at Ryan Field 2022

On Saturday September 17, 2022, I attended a college football game in Evanston, Illinois. The Southern Illinois Salukis came to Ryan Field to take on the Northwestern Wildcats. The Southern Illinois football team beat Northwestern by a score of 31 to 24. Northwestern quaterback Ryan Hilinski finished with 27 of 43 passes complete with 213 yards with one touchdown pass and two interceptions. Northwestern running back Evan Hull gained 125 yards on the ground and also had caught 8 passes for 33 receiving yards. Southern Illinois quarterback Nic Baker threw for three touchdowns and 241 yards.

Duke vs Northwestern Football at Ryan Field 2022

On Saturday September 10, 2022, I attended a college football game at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois. The Duke Blue Devils were in town to take on the Northwestern Wildcats. The Duke football team beat Northwestern by a score of 31 to 23. Northwestern had a chance to tie the game late with 12 seconds left but running back Evan Hull fumbled near the goal line and Duke recovered in the end zone. Duke opened up to a 21-0 lead early with only about 1 minute having passed in the second quarter. Northwestern twice clawed their way back to within 5 points in the second half but were never able to gain the lead. Northwestern quaterback Ryan Hilinski finished with 36 of 60 passes complete with 435 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception. Northwestern running back Evan Hull gained 65 yards on the ground and also had caught 14 passes for 213 receiving yards. Northwestern tight end Thomas Gordon caught 5 passes for a total of 78 yards. Duke was led by quarterback Riley Leonard who was 13 of 24 for 240 yards with one touchdown pass and an interception and running back Jordan Waters who gained 91 yards on the ground and had two touchdowns.
